Questions buyers ask us
What AI features does Odoo actually have?
Current Odoo versions include an AI app for creating AI agents, an Update with AI option in automation rules that fills fields from a prompt, and OCR and AI digitisation for documents such as supplier bills. We configure these for specific processes rather than switching everything on at once.
Can an Odoo AI agent change our data?
Only if it is allowed to. In Odoo, an agent’s skills define the tools it can use. An agent without skills can only provide information and cannot complete tasks or change records. We assign skills deliberately and test them, so agents only do what you have agreed.
Can we limit what an AI agent knows?
Yes. Agents draw on sources you provide, such as PDFs, web links, Documents files and Knowledge articles. Odoo’s Restrict to Sources option limits an agent to those sources only, which helps keep answers consistent with your own approved and up-to-date information.
How does Odoo read supplier bills?
Odoo uses OCR and AI to read uploaded or emailed bills and fill in fields such as vendor, dates, product lines, taxes and totals. Digitisation is an in-app purchase service using one credit per document. Electronic bills with embedded XML are processed even more accurately.
Do we need custom code for automation?
Usually not. Odoo’s automation rules can react to field changes, emails, dates and incoming webhooks, then update records, create activities, send emails or call webhooks. Custom Python is available for complex cases, but we use it sparingly because standard rules are easier to maintain and upgrade.
Is it safe to automate finance processes?
It can be, with the right design. We automate the routine parts, such as reading bills or matching recurring bank lines, and keep a person reviewing anything unusual or high value. Every automation is tested on real examples before it goes live and is switched on in stages.
