Questions buyers ask us
How long does an Odoo implementation take?
A full multi-department rollout usually takes six to eight months when delivered in phases. A single app, such as CRM or Inventory, can be much quicker. The biggest factors are the number of processes in scope, the state of your data and how much time your key users can give to design and testing. We agree the timeline with you in the Scope phase.
Should we use Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or host it ourselves?
Odoo Online is Odoo’s own cloud and suits businesses happy to work with standard apps and Studio changes. Odoo.sh is Odoo’s cloud platform for projects that need custom modules. On-premise hosting gives full control but puts servers, backups and upgrades on you. We recommend one after the Scope phase, based on your customisation needs and IT capacity.
Which version of Odoo will you implement?
We implement on the latest Odoo version, currently Odoo 20, released in autumn 2026, unless there is a specific reason not to. Odoo provides standard support for each major version for three years, so starting on the newest release gives you the longest runway before your first major upgrade.
Does Odoo handle UK VAT and Making Tax Digital?
Yes. Odoo’s UK localisation includes a UK chart of accounts, a tax structure ready for the VAT100 return, VAT submission to HMRC under Making Tax Digital, Construction Industry Scheme support and BACS payment files. We configure and test these with your finance team and accountant before go-live.
Will we need custom development?
Often less than you expect. Odoo’s standard apps and Studio cover a wide range of processes. We design with standard features first and only recommend custom code where there is a clear business case, because every custom module has to be maintained and upgraded with each new Odoo version.
What do you need from our team?
A project sponsor who can make decisions, and a key user for each department who knows how the work is really done. Key users join workshops, review designs and test the system. Expect a few hours a week, rising during testing and training in the weeks before go-live.
