Customized Tree View for Contacts

By default, the Odoo Contacts app opens in Kanban view, which shows each contact as a card. Our Customized Tree View for Contacts module makes the list (tree) view the default instead. Your team sees contacts in a clear table, which is quicker for scanning, sorting and comparing customer and partner details.

How to use it

  1. Open the Contacts app from the Odoo home screen.
  2. Contacts now open in list view, with one row per contact.
  3. Use the search bar, filters and Group By options to find contacts quickly.
  4. To switch back to cards, click the Kanban icon at the top right of the screen.

How to install the module

  1. Add the module to your Odoo add-ons folder, or ask your Odoo administrator or hosting provider to do this.
  2. In Odoo, turn on developer mode (Settings > Developer Tools > Activate the developer mode).
  3. Go to Apps and click Update Apps List.
  4. Remove the default Apps filter from the search bar, search for the module name and click Activate.

If you use Odoo Online (SaaS), custom modules cannot be installed. They need Odoo.sh or an on-premise installation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the tree view in Odoo?

Tree view is the technical name for Odoo’s list view. It shows records as rows with columns, such as name, phone, email and company, so you can scan many contacts at once.

Can users still switch to Kanban view?

Yes. The module only changes which view opens first. Users can switch between list and Kanban views with the view buttons at the top right of the Contacts screen.

Does this module change any contact data?

No. It changes the default view only. Your contact records and fields stay exactly the same.
