Introduction

The Shop Floor module works hand-in-hand with the Manufacturing app in Odoo to make production management simpler and more visual.

It gives your team an easy-to-use interface for processing Manufacturing Orders (MOs) and Work Orders (WOs). Your manufacturing staff can track their tasks, log production progress, and record the time spent on each job all from one place.

Note: Shop Floor is available in Odoo version 16.4 and above and replaces the tablet view in older versions. It can’t be installed on its own it comes with the Manufacturing app.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Go to Apps in Odoo.
  • Search for Manufacturing in the search bar.
  • Click Install on the Manufacturing app card (Shop Floor is included).

To check your Odoo version:

Manufacturing Orders (MO)

  • Each MO card shows its number, product, quantity, and status:
    • Confirmed – Not started.
    • In Progress – Work ongoing.
    • To Close – Ready to finalise.
  • You can:
    • Register Production – Record quantities produced.
    • Close Production – Finish the MO (after quality checks, if required).
    • Add components, add work orders, scrap defective items, or open the MO in the Manufacturing app.

Work Orders (WO)

  • Each WO card displays the steps, status, and time spent.
  • Actions include:
    • Completing steps.
    • Registering production.
    • Mark as Done or Close Production.
    • Moving the WO to another work centre.
    • Creating a quality alert.
  1. Prioritising MOs and WOs

Orders are prioritised by their Scheduled Date.

  • Set this when creating or editing an MO in Manufacturing → Operations → Manufacturing Orders.
  • Earlier dates appear higher in the dashboard and work centre lists.

Example:

If three MOs are scheduled for 16th, 18th, and 20th August, they will appear in that order.

Tips for Using Shop Floor Effectively

  • Search efficiently – Use the search bar to find MOs/WOs by reference number.
  • Toggle views – Show or hide specific work centres from the navigation bar.
  • Track productivity – Use the operator panel timers to monitor work duration.
  • Keep data clean – Close MOs and WOs promptly to maintain accurate schedules.
