Odoo Inventory cycle counts let a business check stock in specific locations more often than the default annual count, keeping critical stock levels accurate without recounting the whole warehouse.

Before you start

  1. Go to Inventory app > Configuration > Settings, and under Warehouse enable Storage Locations, then Save, since cycle counts are set per location.

How to set a cycle count frequency

  1. Go to Inventory app > Configuration > Locations and open a location.
  2. Under Cyclic Counting, set Inventory Frequency to the number of days between counts, for example 30.

After the first count is completed, Odoo automatically schedules the next one based on this frequency.

How to perform a cycle count

  1. Go to Inventory app > Operations > Physical Inventory.
  2. Use the search bar’s Group By > Location, or add a custom filter for a specific location, to see only the products stored there.
  3. Update the Counted Quantity for each product and apply the adjustment as normal.

Changing the full inventory count date

Go to Inventory app > Configuration > Settings, and under Operations change Annual Inventory Day and Month from its default of 31 December to the date that suits the business.
