Odoo Shop Floor time tracking lets operators record exactly how long they spend on each work order, giving accurate data for productivity and job costing.

How to manage operators

Opening Shop Floor automatically signs in the current employee as an operator. The operator panel next to the main view lists everyone signed in for the session, though only one is active at a time; click the panel icon to open or collapse it.

  • Add an operator: click Add Operator, choose an employee, and enter their PIN if one is set.
  • Switch profiles: click an employee’s name to make them active; the active operator is highlighted.
  • Log out: click the logout icon next to an operator’s name in the panel.

How to track a work order’s duration

  1. Select the operator in the panel, then open the relevant work centre in Shop Floor (or open the manufacturing order’s Work Orders tab and click Open Shop Floor).
  2. On the work order’s card, click the play icon to start the timer. This tracks total time by all operators, while a separate timer under the operator’s name in the panel tracks their own time for the current session.

Click My WO to see every work order the active operator is working on. Click the pause icon to pause a timer, and Mark as Done (or Close Production if it is the order’s last work order) once finished.

Viewing recorded durations

The actual time spent is shown in the Real Duration column, either per work order at Manufacturing app > Operations > Work Orders, or per manufacturing order on its Work Orders tab. Remove the default incomplete-only filter to include finished orders. Open a work order’s Time Tracking tab for a breakdown by operator.

Frequently asked questions

Can more than one operator be signed in at once?

Yes, several operators can be listed in the panel, but only one is active at a time for time tracking.

Where can I see how long a work order actually took?

In Manufacturing app > Operations > Work Orders, in the Real Duration column, or on the work order’s Time Tracking tab for a breakdown by operator.
