Odoo Email Marketing mailing lists let you group leads, customers or focus groups so you can target campaigns, newsletters and follow-ups to the right audience.

Creating a mailing list

  1. Go to Email Marketing > Mailing Lists > Mailing Lists > New.
  2. Enter a name in the Mailing List field.
  3. Tick Show in Preferences if recipients should be able to manage this subscription themselves.

Use Send Mailing or Send SMS (only shown if the SMS Marketing app is installed) to start a campaign for the list, and check its smart buttons for Recipients, Mailings, % Bounce, % Opt-out and % Blacklist.

Adding contacts

  • Directly from the list: click Total Contacts next to the mailing list, then add or import contacts.
  • Import contacts: click Import Contacts, paste email addresses, or upload a file that also includes details like company name or country.
  • From a master list: go to Email Marketing > Mailing Lists > Mailing List Contacts, open a contact, and use Add a line under the Mailing List column.

To remove someone from a list, tick Opt Out on their contact form; you can record a reason, and the unsubscription date is logged automatically.

Linking a mailing list to your website

  1. Open the website page in Edit mode.
  2. Search for Newsletter in the blocks sidebar.
  3. Drag a Newsletter Block, Newsletter Popup, or Newsletter Field onto the page.
  4. Select the mailing list it should feed, then click Save.

Visitors who subscribe on the site are then added automatically to that list.

Exporting

Mailing lists can be exported as a downloadable file, or shared into the Knowledge, Dashboards or Spreadsheets apps for further analysis.

Tips

  • Segment your audience for more relevant campaigns.
  • Regularly remove bounced or blacklisted contacts to keep data clean.
  • Watch the bounce, opt-out and blacklist metrics for each list.
