How to Create Quotations in Odoo Sales

Beyond the basic quotation form, Odoo Sales includes settings and options that control how a quotation is confirmed, delivered and sent. This guide covers the main Quotations & Orders settings, the Other Info tab, and how to send and confirm a quotation.

Quotation settings

Go to Sales > Configuration > Settings and scroll to the Quotations & Orders section. Useful options include Quotation Templates for standard offers, Online Signature and Online Payment for order confirmation, PDF Quote Builder for branded headers and footers, and Pro-Forma Invoice for sending an estimate before the sale is confirmed. Tick the settings needed and click Save.

Other Info tab

On a quotation form, the Other Info tab groups additional configuration:

  • Online confirmation: enable Signature and/or Payment for this specific quotation.
  • Delivery: set the Incoterm, shipping policy and delivery date.
  • Invoicing: choose the fiscal position and analytic account.
  • Tracking: record the source of the quotation, such as a CRM opportunity or marketing campaign.

How to send and confirm a quotation

  1. Click Send by Email to email the customer a PDF copy of the quotation.
  2. If pro-forma invoicing is enabled, click Send Pro-Forma Invoice to share an estimate before the order is confirmed.
  3. Click Preview to see the quotation as the customer will see it in their portal.
  4. Once the customer agrees, click Confirm to turn the quotation into a sales order, or Cancel if it is no longer needed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Send by Email and Preview?

Send by Email delivers a PDF of the quotation to the customer, while Preview shows you what the customer will see in their portal without sending anything.

Can I track where a quotation came from?

Yes. The Other Info tab includes a tracking section for recording the source, such as a CRM opportunity or marketing campaign.

What happens when I click Confirm on a quotation?

The quotation turns into a sales order, at which point delivery and invoicing can proceed.
