Odoo Sales quotation templates let you pre-configure common products, sections and terms so that new quotations for the same offer can be sent in a fraction of the time. This guide explains how to create and use quotation templates in Odoo Sales.

How to enable quotation templates

  1. Go to Sales > Configuration > Settings and scroll to the Quotations & Orders section.
  2. Tick Quotation Templates, then click Save.
  1. An internal Quotation Templates link appears, or go to Sales > Configuration > Quotation Templates directly.

How to create a quotation template

  1. On the Quotation Templates page, click New.
  1. Enter a name in the Quotation Template field.
  2. Set Quotation Validity to the number of days the template stays valid, or leave it at 0 for no expiry.
  3. Optionally select a Confirmation Mail template to send automatically once an order is confirmed.
  4. In a multi-company database, select the applicable Company, and set an Invoicing Journal if orders using this template should invoice through a specific journal.
  5. If Online Signature and Online Payment are enabled in Settings, tick either or both here to require them for order confirmation.

Lines tab

In the Lines tab, click Add a product to add each product, Add a section to insert a header that organises the lines, and Add a note to add explanatory text such as warranty details. Drag items into position using the handle on the left of each line.

Optional Products tab

Add related products here to offer useful add-ons. These appear at the bottom of the quotation, and customers can add them to their order directly.

Terms & Conditions tab

Enter standard terms here. They are not mandatory, but they appear automatically on every quotation generated from this template, which helps protect both parties.

How to use a quotation template

Save the template, then on a new quotation select it from the Quotation Template field. The products, sections, notes and terms from the template populate the quotation automatically, ready to review and send.

Frequently asked questions

Can I leave the Quotation Validity field blank?

Leaving it on 0 keeps the template valid indefinitely, instead of expiring after a set number of days.

Can I require both a signature and a payment from the same template?

Yes, Online Signature and Online Payment can both be enabled on the same template, in which case the customer must provide both to confirm the order.

Do terms and conditions on a template apply automatically?

Yes, any terms and conditions entered on the template appear automatically on every quotation created from it.
