Odoo POS product combos let you sell a fixed-price bundle where the customer picks one or more options from set groups. Restaurants use them for meal deals such as a main, side and drink, and retailers use them for product sets. This guide shows how to create combo choices, build the combo product and sell it at the till.

How combos work

A combo has two parts:

  • Combo choices: groups of interchangeable products, for example Sides or Drinks, each with an optional extra price per product.
  • A combo product: the item you sell, with product type Combo, a fixed sales price and one or more combo choices attached.

How to create combo choices

  1. Go to Point of Sale > Products > Product Combos and click New.
  2. Enter a name, for example Burger Menu Sides.
  3. Click Add a line for each product customers can choose from.
  4. Optionally enter an Extra Price for premium options. The Original Price column shows each product’s normal price for reference.
  5. Save the combo choice and repeat for each group.

How to create the combo product

  1. Go to Point of Sale > Products > Products and click New.
  2. Set Product Type to Combo and complete the General Information tab, including the sales price.
  3. Open the Combo Choices tab, click Add a line and select the combo choices to include. You can also create a new one from the popup by clicking New.
  4. Save the product.

The combo’s sales price is fixed. It does not change with the prices or quantity of the items inside it. Only extra prices, set on the combo choice or on a product variant, are added on top.

How to sell a combo in the POS

  1. Open a POS session and select the combo product.
  2. Choose an option from each group. Any extra price is shown under the relevant choice.
  3. Click Add to order.

Tips

  • Use clear names that match your menu board, such as Lunch Deal or Family Pizza Combo.
  • Put premium items (large drinks, extra toppings) in the same group with an extra price rather than creating separate combos.
  • Reuse combo choices, such as a standard Drinks group, across several combo products to keep maintenance simple.

How is the price of a combo product calculated?

The combo product’s sales price is fixed. It only increases when a customer picks an option with an extra price, either set on the combo choice or on a product variant.

Can one product appear in several combos?

Yes. A combo choice is just a list of products, so the same product can be added to as many combo choices as you need.

Can I use combos in a retail shop?

Yes. In retail, combos work as product sets where the customer chooses items from each group, for example a gift box.

Where do I see the original price of each option?

On the combo form, the Original Price column shows each product’s normal price for reference next to the Extra Price.
