Introduction

The Self-Ordering feature allows customers to browse your menu or product catalog, place an order, and complete payment directly from their mobile device (via QR menu) or a self-ordering kiosk.

  • Restaurants: Customers scan a QR code to access menus, order meals, and pay.
  • Retail/shops: Customers browse products, order, and pay using a kiosk or QR menu.

This reduces wait times, improves customer experience, and optimizes staff efficiency.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Enable Self-Ordering

  1. Go to Point of Sale → Settings.
  2. Scroll to the Mobile Self-Order & Kiosk
  3. Under QR menu & Kiosk activation, select a Self-Ordering type:
    1. QR Menu: Shows catalog/menu only.
    2. QR Menu + Ordering: Allows browsing, ordering, and payment via mobile.
    3. Kiosk: Enables ordering through an in-store kiosk.

 After selection:

  • Click Print QR Codes → download a PDF with QR codes.
  • Click Download QR Codes → download a ZIP file with QR codes.

Note:

  • Restaurants: Generates one QR code per available table.
  • Shops: Generates a single generic QR code.

Tip:
 Customize QR codes by scanning the generated QR URL, then using a tool like QR Code Monkey to create branded codes.

 

2. Configure Additional Settings

Once a self-ordering type is selected, configure:

  • Home Buttons:
    • Go to Home Buttons → New.
    • Add a Label (e.g., Special Offers).
    • Enter a URL (e.g., https://campaign.com).
    • Use /products as the URL to redirect to product catalog.
    • Restrict to specific POS if needed.
    • Choose a Style → Preview updates automatically.
  • Other Options:
    • Service location & payment options (Eat in / Take out).
    • Language selection.
    • Splash screens for branding.

 

3. Preview Before Launch

  • Click Preview Web Interface (under Self Ordering) to test settings.
  • Ensure the customer interface looks correct before making it live.

 

4. Usage Guidelines

For QR Menu

  • POS User:
    • Scan/downloaded QR code OR
    • From POS dashboard, click ⋮ (vertical ellipsis) → Mobile Menu.
  • Customer:
    • Scan QR code → access menu.
    • Select items → Click Order.
    • Assign table (restaurant) or confirm details.
    • Pay following on-screen instructions.

For Kiosk

  • Customers interact with the in-store kiosk screen.
  • Browse catalog/menu → Place order → Pay.

Important: A POS session must be open for self-ordering to work.

  • Once placed:
    • Orders are sent automatically to the Preparation Display.
    • Orders appear in the POS Orders list.

Tips

  • Print & place QR codes clearly on tables or at store entrances.
  • Use custom splash screens & branded QR codes for a professional look.
  • Assign different POS product categories to kiosks (e.g., Drinks kiosk, Food kiosk).
  • Always keep a POS session open, otherwise orders can’t be processed.
  • Test with the Preview Web Interface before going live.
