Creating field service tasks

Odoo Field Service tasks can be created manually or generated automatically from a sales order or a helpdesk ticket, so on-site work is always linked back to the record that triggered it. This guide covers all three methods.

How to create a task manually

1. Open the Field Service app and go to Field Service > All Tasks > All Tasks.
2. Click New.
3. Enter the Task Title, select the Customer, and fill in any other fields needed.
4. Save the task.

This method suits one-off jobs that do not originate from a sales order or a ticket.

How to create a task from a sales order

1. Create a quotation that includes a service product configured for field service.
2. Confirm the sales order.

Odoo automatically creates a task in the linked Field Service project. Open the sales order and click the Tasks smart button to view it.

How to create a task from a helpdesk ticket

If the Helpdesk app is installed, a field service task can be created directly from a ticket, letting support teams hand issues over to an on-site team.

• Use automatic task creation from sales orders or tickets where possible, so tasks stay linked to their source record.
• Customise the Field Service project’s Kanban stages (for example To Do, In Progress, Done) to track progress at a glance.
