Data Cleaning

Odoo Data Cleaning helps keep records accurate and consistent by finding duplicates, flagging outdated records, and standardising how text fields are formatted. It suits businesses whose data has built up messy entries over time, such as duplicate contacts or inconsistently capitalised names.

What Data Cleaning does

The app works in three ways: deduplication merges or removes duplicate records, recycling identifies outdated records to archive or delete, and field cleaning reformats text data, such as trimming spaces, fixing capitalisation, or converting phone numbers to an international format.

Main capabilities

• Deduplication rules that group similar records by a chosen field and merge them into a master record.
• Recycle rules that archive or delete records based on how long ago a date field was updated.
• Field cleaning rules for trimming spaces, changing text case, formatting phone numbers, or stripping HTML.
• Manual or automatic modes for each rule, with daily scheduled runs by default.

Field cleaning and deduplication require Odoo Enterprise, while basic record recycling is also available on Community.

Frequently asked questions

Does Data Cleaning work on Odoo Community?

Only the recycle feature (Data Recycle module) is available on Community; field cleaning and deduplication merging require Odoo Enterprise.

How often do cleaning rules run automatically?

By default, deduplication, recycle and field cleaning rules each run once a day as a scheduled action, though any rule can also be run manually.
