Three-step manufacturing

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 225 views

Odoo Manufacturing three-step manufacturing splits production into three parts: picking components, manufacturing the product, and storing the finished goods, each tracked as its own transfer. It suits warehouses that separate storage, production and finished goods areas and want each movement recorded.

What three-step manufacturing does

Confirming a manufacturing order under this setting creates a pick components transfer (moving components to the production area), the manufacturing order itself, and a store finished products transfer (moving completed goods to storage). Each transfer updates inventory counts as it is validated.

How to use it

  1. Set the warehouse to three steps in Inventory app > Configuration > Warehouses, under the Manufacture field.
  2. Create and confirm a manufacturing order as usual.
  3. From the order’s Transfers smart button, validate the pick components transfer first.
  4. Complete the order’s work orders and click Produce All.
  5. Validate the store finished products transfer to move the goods into stock.
