Odoo POS sales orders let retail staff load quotations and sales orders created in the Sales app straight into the till, then take a deposit or full payment. It suits shops that quote for larger items, such as furniture or made-to-order goods, and want the customer to pay in store.

How to load a sales order in the POS

  1. Open a POS session.
  2. Click Quotations/Orders to see all quotations and sales orders from the Sales app.
  3. Filter the list by customer or order reference. If you set the customer first, the list shows only their orders.

How to take a down payment or settle the order

Select a sales order from the list, then choose one of the following:

  • Apply a down payment: enter the percentage the customer pays now, click OK and continue to payment.
  • Settle the order: pay the full amount of the sales order.

When an order with a down payment is settled later, the amount already paid is automatically deducted from the total.

Tips

  • Select the customer before opening the list to find their orders faster.
  • Check the quotation lines and prices before taking payment, as the POS order follows the sales order.
  • Product notes from an imported sales order appear in the cart and on the customer’s receipt.

Frequently asked questions

Can I take a deposit on a sales order in the POS?

Yes. Select the order, click Apply a down payment and enter the percentage the customer should pay now.

What happens to the down payment when the order is settled?

When you later settle the order, the down payment already received is automatically deducted from the total.

Can I see only one customer’s orders?

Yes. Set the customer on the POS before clicking Quotations/Orders, or filter the list by customer or order reference.
