An Odoo Inventory package is a physical container, such as a box or pallet, that holds one or more products. Packages help move, store or ship goods in bulk, whether or not the items inside are the same product.

Before you start

  1. Go to Inventory app > Configuration > Settings, and under Operations enable Packages, then Save.

How to put products in a package

On any transfer, click the detailed operations icon on a product line, add a line, and set its Destination Package (existing or new), with the quantity going into it. Alternatively, click Put in Pack on the transfer to create a new package and place everything in it at once.

Package types

Create package types under Inventory app > Configuration > Package Types to set a container’s Size, empty Weight and Max Weight, mainly for calculating shipping costs against a carrier’s requirements.

Cluster packages

Enabling Batch Transfers reveals the Package Use field on a package form: choose Reusable for containers moved within the warehouse, or Disposable for ones shipped to customers.

Viewing packages

Go to Inventory app > Products > Packages to see all packages by current location; drag and drop a package to move it between internal locations.
