Project

Odoo Project is a Kanban based project management app for planning tasks, assigning work to colleagues and tracking how each project is progressing. It suits teams delivering client work, internal projects or service engagements who need a shared, visual view of what is being worked on.

What Odoo Project does

Projects are broken down into tasks, which move across Kanban stages such as New, In Progress and Done. Each task can carry assignees, deadlines, tags, sub-tasks and dependencies, and the project dashboard summarises tasks, timesheets, milestones and profitability in one place.

Main capabilities

• Configurable Kanban stages and built-in task statuses for tracking progress.
• Manual and automatic task creation, including from incoming emails or website forms.
• Recurring tasks for work that repeats on a schedule.
• Sub-tasks for splitting large tasks into smaller pieces of work.
• Task dependencies so a task only starts once its predecessors are done.
• A project dashboard with milestones, budgets and a profitability breakdown for billable projects.

Frequently asked questions

Which Odoo apps does Project work with?

Project links with Timesheets, Planning, Sales, Documents and Accounting, so tasks, hours, quotes and files stay connected to the same project record.

Can external customers see project tasks?

Yes. If a project’s visibility is set to allow portal users, invited customers can view and comment on the tasks they follow.

Do I need task stages before creating tasks?

You are prompted to set up stages when you create a new project, but you can add, rename or reorder them at any time from the project’s Kanban view.
