Allocation reports

Odoo Manufacturing allocation reports let you reserve units from a manufacturing order for specific sales orders or component demands, useful when stock cannot cover every outstanding order and some customers need to be prioritised.

Before you start

Go to Manufacturing app > Configuration > Settings and enable Allocation Report for Manufacturing Orders, then click Save. The product needs Track Inventory enabled and a bill of materials configured.

How to allocate units

  1. Confirm the sales orders or manufacturing orders that need the product; if none exist yet, create and confirm them.
  2. Create and confirm a manufacturing order to replenish the product.
  3. Open the confirmed order’s Allocation smart button to see the MRP Reception Report, listing the orders that could use these units, oldest delivery or scheduled date first.
  1. Click Assign on a specific order’s line to reserve units for it, or Assign All to allocate everything available; Unassign reverses it.

Assigning does not move stock, it only sets priority. Once ready, click Produce All on the replenishing order, validate any transfers needed to bring the product into stock, then validate the delivery (for a sales order) or click Produce (for a manufacturing order needing the component) to fulfil the original demand.

Printing labels

Click Print for a PDF of the allocation report with a scannable barcode, or Print Labels for individual labels showing the product, order number and customer.

Frequently asked questions

Does assigning units in an allocation report move stock?

No, it only decides which demand gets priority once the units are produced; the actual movement happens when the transfers are validated.

What do I need before using allocation reports?

The Allocation Report for Manufacturing Orders setting enabled, plus a confirmed manufacturing order and at least one confirmed sales order or manufacturing order needing the product.
