Introduction

In the world of subscription-based businesses, data is power and knowing how to effectively read that data can mean the difference between growth and stagnation. Odoo’s Subscriptions app offers an extensive suite of reporting tools designed to give businesses full visibility into their recurring revenue models. These tools allow companies to track performance, forecast trends, and make informed decisions through customizable visualizations and metrics.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Overview of Subscription Reporting

The Odoo Subscriptions app includes four powerful reporting pages, each tailored to track different aspects of subscription performance:

  1. Subscription Analysis
  2. Retention Analysis
  3. MRR Breakdown
  4. MRR Analysis (Timeline)

Each of these pages can be accessed through the Reporting menu in the Subscriptions app and offers a unique perspective on subscription data.

Key Features Across Reporting Pages

1. Filters and Group By

Every reporting page is equipped with Filters and Group By tools, enabling users to narrow or segment data for a more focused analysis. These combinations can be saved as favorites, with options to:

  • Set as Default filter
  • Share with other users

This customization makes it easier for teams to repeatedly access specific views tailored to their business needs.

2. Views: Graph, List, and Pivot

Most reporting pages (excluding Retention Analysis) offer three primary views:

  • Graph View: Visualize data as bar charts, line charts, or pie charts, each with additional visual customization like stacking, sorting, and cumulative trends.
  • List View: Presents data in a simple, filterable list (without graphing or spreadsheet insertion options).
  • Pivot View: Displays data in a pivot table format with the ability to flip axes, expand data, and download in .xlsx

These views provide diverse ways to interpret and present data based on the user’s preferences.

3. Measures and Metrics

The Measures drop-down allows users to select which metrics to display such as MRR, ARR, recurring revenue, or subscription count depending on the reporting page. These selections affect the data shown in both graph and pivot views.

4. Insert in Spreadsheet

With just one click, users can add the configured data from any reporting page directly into a spreadsheet or dashboard. This feature supports both new and existing spreadsheets, simplifying reporting and sharing.
