PDF quote builder

The Odoo Sales PDF quote builder turns a plain list of products and prices into a branded, professional proposal by combining custom header and footer PDFs, product PDFs, and dynamic text with the standard quote.

What the PDF quote builder does

It lets a business sandwich a quotation between designed cover pages, technical sheets or marketing documents. Dynamic text fields on those PDFs can pull data straight from the sales order, such as the customer name, reference or total, so documents personalise themselves automatically.

How to set up the PDF quote builder

1. Go to Sales > Configuration > Settings, scroll to Quotations & Orders, tick PDF Quote Builder, and click Save.
2. Go to Sales > Configuration > Headers/Footers.
3. Click New, or Upload to add a PDF file from your computer.
4. Set the Document Type to Header to place the PDF before the quote, or Footer to place it after.
5. If the PDF has form fields, Odoo recognises them automatically as dynamic text fields. Click Configure dynamic fields to review or edit them.
6. Optionally, assign the PDF to a specific quotation template so it is only used with that template.

Headers and footers can also be added directly on a quotation template, in its Quote Builder tab.

How to use it on a quotation

On any quotation, the Quote Builder tab lets you select which headers and footers to include in the final PDF sent to the customer. Empty text fields on the PDF can be filled in directly from the quotation form, without editing the PDF itself.

Tips

• PDF field names cannot contain spaces: use only letters, numbers, hyphens or underscores.
• PDFs can also be attached to individual products, so the right header or footer is added automatically whenever that product is quoted.
