One-step manufacturing

Odoo Manufacturing one-step manufacturing creates a manufacturing order without generating separate transfers for moving components out of stock or finished products in. Inventory counts still update, just without tracking the physical movement as its own step.

Before you start

The number of steps is set per warehouse. Go to Inventory app > Configuration > Warehouses, open the warehouse, and on the Warehouse Configuration tab choose Manufacture (1 step) under the Manufacture field. The product must already be configured for manufacturing, with the Manufacture route and a bill of materials in place.

How to create a manufacturing order

  1. Go to Manufacturing app > Operations > Manufacturing Orders and click New.
  2. Select the Product (its Bill of Material fills in automatically, or pick the BoM first). The Components and Work Orders tabs populate from the BoM; add extra lines if needed.
  3. Click Confirm.

How to process the order

From the manufacturing order

  1. On the Work Orders tab, click Start on the first work order to begin timing it.
  1. Click Done once it is finished, and repeat for each work order.
  1. Click Produce All to mark the order Done and add the manufactured units to stock.

From Shop Floor

  1. On the order’s Work Orders tab, open a work order and click Open Shop Floor.
  1. Shop Floor opens on the relevant work centre’s page, showing a card with the order details and required steps.
  1. Complete each step by clicking it and following the instructions, or by ticking its checkbox. The final step, Register Production, records the quantity produced: click the units button if it matches the order quantity, or open the step to enter a different number.
  2. Click Mark as Done if more work orders remain, or Close Production if this is the last one, which also adds the produced units to stock.

Where is the number of manufacturing steps set?

At the warehouse level, in Inventory > Configuration > Warehouses, on the Manufacture radio field.

Does one-step manufacturing still update inventory counts?

Yes, component and finished product quantities update, but Odoo does not generate separate transfer documents for moving them.
