Odoo Manufacturing work centre time off marks a work centre as unavailable for a set period, so work orders are routed to an alternative work centre instead of piling up.

Before you start

  1. Enable developer mode, so the Time Off smart button appears on a work centre’s working hours page.
  2. Install the Time Off app from the Apps page.
  3. Set up at least two work centres with the same equipment listed under their Equipment tab, so either can carry out the same operations.
  4. On the work centre that may become unavailable, select the other one in its Alternative Workcenters field.

How to add time off for a work centre

  1. Go to Manufacturing app > Configuration > Work Centers and open the affected work centre.
  2. Click the internal link icon next to Working Hours to open its working hours page.
  1. Click the Time Off smart button, then New on the Resource Time Off page.
  2. Enter a Reason, select the work centre as the Resource, and set the Start Date and End Date.

How work orders are rerouted

Create or open a manufacturing order that uses the unavailable work centre for one of its operations, and confirm it. On the Work Orders tab, the unavailable work centre still shows by default.

Click Plan, and the work order is automatically reassigned to the alternative work centre for the duration of the time off.

What happens once the time-off period ends?

Odoo treats the work center as available again, and the Plan button stops routing new work orders to the alternative work centre unless the original one is at full capacity.
