Introduction

With the Purchase application in Odoo, users can track the fluctuation of vendor costs over time. This enables businesses to identify their most expensive vendors, monitor seasonal pricing changes, and make better procurement decisions.

Step-by-Step Instructions

 

Create Vendor Costs Reports

  1. Navigate to Purchase app → ReportingPurchase to open the Purchase Analysis Dashboard.
  2. By default, this shows a line chart of the Untaxed Total of Purchase Orders (POs) for the current month.
  3. To switch to pivot view, click the pivot icon on the top-right of the dashboard.

Add Filters and Groups

  1. Remove any existing filters from the Search
  2. Click the filter dropdown icon to reveal:
    1. Filters
    2. Group By
    3. Favorites

Filters:

  • Choose between Requests for Quotation or Purchase Orders.
  • Select a date field (Order Date or Confirmation Date), then specify a time range (month, quarter, year).

Group By:

  • First, select Vendor.
  • Optionally, add Product for deeper insight.
  • You may also group by Product Category, Status, or Purchase Representative.
  • Ensure the Vendor is selected first to generate the correct report.

Comparison:

  • Only available after setting a date filter.
  • Choose between:
    • Previous Period
    • Previous Year
  • Only one comparison can be selected at a time.

 

Add Measures

  1. Exit the dropdown.
  2. Click Measures at the top-left.
  3. Select:
    1. Average Cost
    2. Total
    3. Untaxed Total
    4. (Optional) Days to Receive or others for more insight.

4.It’s recommended to use at least Average Cost or Untaxed Total for meaningful results.

Tips

  • Grouping by Product helps analyze vendor pricing by item.
  • Use Previous Year comparison to assess annual trends.
  • Combine pivot view with Insert in Spreadsheet for customized reporting in the Documents app.
