Introduction

Discounts are an essential part of any sales strategy, allowing businesses to offer special pricing, run promotions, or adjust costs for specific customers. The Discounts feature in the Odoo Sales App makes this process seamless by allowing users to apply price adjustments directly to sales quotations and orders either as percentages or fixed amounts.

This article explores how to enable and use the Discounts functionality in Odoo, including line item discounts, global discounts, and fixed amount discounts.

Enabling Discounts in the Sales App

To begin using discounts, you first need to activate the feature:

  1. Go to the Sales
  2. Navigate to Configuration ‣ Settings.
  3. In the Pricing section, check the Discounts
  4. Click Save to apply the changes.

Once enabled, the discount tools become available in your quotations and sales orders.

Applying Discounts to Product Lines

After enabling discounts, you can apply them at the line-item level within quotations and sales orders.

Steps:

  • Go to Sales ‣ Orders ‣ Quotations.
  • Open any quotation.
  • In the Order Lines tab, you’ll notice a new column titled %.
  • Enter the desired discount percentage for each product line. The Total will automatically adjust to reflect the new pricing.

Tip: The same process applies to Sales Orders. Navigate to Sales ‣ Orders ‣ Orders, select an order, and adjust the Disc.% field.

Note:

  • A positive value (e.g., 10%) reduces the price and is visible to the customer.
  • A negative value (e.g., -5%) increases the price but is not visible to the customer; instead, it modifies the unit price directly.

Using the Discount Button for Global and Fixed Discounts

When the Discounts setting is active, a Discount button appears at the bottom of the Sales Order form. Clicking this button opens a pop-up with multiple discount options:

1. On All Order Lines

This option applies a uniform percentage discount to each existing line item in the order.

2. Global Discount

Adds a new product line to the order that represents the total discount value based on a specified percentage of the order subtotal.

Example:
If your order subtotal is $4,200, a 10% global discount will add a product line with a value of –$420, reflecting the total discount.

Important:
If you add or remove products after applying a global discount, the discount line will not update automatically. You must delete the existing discount line and reapply it.

3. Fixed Amount Discount

Adds a fixed-value discount as a product line.

Example:
Applying a $20 fixed discount adds a product line with a unit price of –$20, directly reducing the order total.

Note:
It’s best to apply fixed amount discounts after all products have been added. If changes are made later, the discount amount must be adjusted or re-entered.

When deleting a user, Zoho CRM gives you two options:

Some data and references to the deleted user will remain in the system, even after deletion. Here’s what to expect:
