Introduction

Odoo 18 provides seamless integration with Amazon through its Amazon Connector, allowing sellers to manage their marketplace activities directly within the Odoo ecosystem. This article outlines the step-by-step configuration process for linking your Amazon Seller account with Odoo, along with insights into order synchronization, tax configuration, and marketplace management.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Prerequisites: Amazon Seller Account

Before starting the configuration, ensure you have an active paid Amazon Seller account. To set up one:

Go to Amazon.

Navigate to Account & Lists > Start a Selling Account.

Follow the sign-up process on the Sell with Amazon page.

Once your seller account is active, proceed to link it with Odoo.

  1. Enabling the Amazon Connector in Odoo

In Odoo, navigate to:
Sales app > Configuration > Settings > Connectors.

Locate the Amazon Sync option.

Activate the Amazon Sync feature and click Save.

  1. Linking Amazon Seller Account to Odoo

After saving, click the Amazon Accounts link under the Amazon Sync setting.

In the new Amazon Accounts window, click New.

Fill in the Account Name (e.g., “American Marketplace”).

Under the Credentials tab, select the marketplace where the account was created from the Home Marketplace dropdown.

Save the form to reveal the Link with Amazon button.

Click this button to authenticate via Amazon and grant Odoo access.

Upon successful login and consent, Odoo will automatically register the account and sync available marketplaces under the Marketplaces tab.

You may remove any marketplaces from this list if you do not wish to synchronize them.

  1. Synchronizing Amazon Orders

When Amazon orders are synchronized to Odoo:

A sales order is created with up to three-line items:

Product sold

Shipping charges (if applicable)

Gift wrapping charges (if applicable)

Odoo identifies these items using the Internal Reference of the product:

Marketplace products: Matched via Amazon SKU

Shipping: Matched via Amazon Shipping Code

Gift wrapping: Matched via Amazon Gift Wrapping Code

If a match is found, an Amazon Offer is created and listed under the Offers smart button on the account form. This offer is used for future order matching.

If no match is found, Odoo uses default products:

Amazon Sale (for unmatched SKUs)

Amazon Shipping (for unmatched shipping codes)

To modify these default products:

Activate Developer Mode.

Go to:

Sales app > Configuration > Settings > Connectors > Amazon Sync > Default Products.

  1. Product Tax Configuration

Tax reporting on Amazon orders is handled as follows:

Taxes are applied based on either:

The taxes configured on the product, or

The fiscal position assigned during order creation.

Ensure your tax settings in Odoo align with Amazon’s to avoid subtotal discrepancies. Minor differences between Amazon and Odoo totals (a few cents) can be resolved using a payment write-off during reconciliation.

  1. Adding a New Marketplace

All Amazon marketplaces are supported by the connector. To add a new one:

Activate Developer Mode.

Navigate to:

Sales app > Configuration > Settings > Connectors > Amazon Sync > Amazon Marketplaces.

Click New and enter the following:

Name (e.g., Amazon.se)

API Identifier (Marketplace ID from Amazon)

Region (from Amazon documentation)

Seller Central URL

Save the marketplace.

Update the account by going to:

Sales app > Configuration > Settings > Connectors > Amazon Accounts.

Open the account, go to the Marketplaces tab, and click Update available marketplaces.

If successful, an animation will confirm the update. If the marketplace is not added, it may be incompatible with your seller account.

Conclusion

Odoo’s Amazon Connector in version 18 significantly enhances multi-channel selling by automating synchronization between your Amazon store and Odoo’s backend. With proper configuration, businesses can streamline sales, inventory, and tax reporting while reducing manual intervention.
