Introduction

Odoo 18 offers a streamlined and user-friendly process for customers to confirm their sales orders via online payments. This feature enhances the order confirmation workflow, allowing businesses to process and confirm sales orders more efficiently while providing a seamless experience for customers. Once a customer completes an online payment, the associated salesperson is instantly notified, and the order is confirmed automatically.

Activating the Online Payment Feature

 

To allow customers to confirm their sales orders through online payments, the Online Payment option must first be activated in the Sales application.

 

Steps to Activate:

  1. Navigate to the Sales
  2. Go to Configuration > Settings.
  3. Scroll to the Quotations & Orders
  4. Enable the Online Payment
  5. Click Save to apply the changes.

Beneath the Online Payment option, there is also a Default Quotation Validity field. This allows you to define the default number of days a quotation remains valid.

 

Enabling Online Payments on Quotations

 

After activating the Online Payment feature, it can be enabled on both standard quotations and quotation templates.

 

For Standard Quotations:

  • Navigate to a quotation.
  • Go to the Other Info
  • In the Online Confirmation section, check the Payment

 

For Quotation Templates:

  • Open a quotation template.
  • In the Online Confirmation field, check the Payment

This ensures that the “Accept & Pay” functionality is available to customers when they receive quotations.

 

Configuring Payment Providers

Once Online Payments are activated, a link to configure Payment Providers appears directly below the setting.

To Configure:

  • Click on the Payment Providers
  • On the Payment Providers page, you can enable, customize, and publish a wide variety of payment gateways (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, etc.).

Only published and properly configured payment providers will be available for customer selection during the payment process.

 

Customer Experience: Confirming Orders via Online Payment

Once a customer receives a quotation, they can access it via their Customer Portal. Here’s how the process works:

  1. Click the Accept & Pay button on the quotation page.
  2. A Validate Order pop-up window appears, offering various online payment options under the Pay with
  3. The customer selects a preferred payment method (e.g., credit card, PayPal).
  4. Click Pay to complete the transaction.

Only those payment options that are configured and published in the Payment Providers page will be shown to the customer.

Order Confirmation & Salesperson Notification

Once the payment is completed:

  • The sales order is confirmed automatically.
  • The assigned salesperson receives an instant notification within the chatter of the sales order.

This real-time update ensures that the sales team is immediately informed and can proceed with the fulfillment process without delay.
