Introduction

Views define how data from models is displayed and interacted with in the UI. Each model can have one or more views: form, list, kanban, calendar, etc. Studio allows you to easily customize these views visually without writing code.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Customize a View

  1. Click the Studio (wrench icon) on the top-right of any app.
  1. Navigate to the view you want to edit (Form, List, Kanban, etc.).
  2. Use the left-side panel to drag and drop fields, buttons, tabs, and components.

4. Click any field/component to configure label, domain, visibility rules, etc.

5. Click Close Studio to save your changes.

Add a New View Type

  1. Open Studio on your model.
  2. Go to the Views
  3. Click + Add View.
  4. Select a view type (Calendar, Gantt, Map, Graph, Pivot, etc.).
  5. Configure default fields and filters.

Hide/Show Fields Based on Conditions

  1. Click the field in the Form view.
  2. In the right panel, scroll to “Visible If”.
  3. Set the visibility rule using Python-style expressions.

Tips

  • Preview Views as Different Users to ensure visibility rules and permissions work.
  • Use “Group By” and “Filters” to tailor List and Kanban views.
  • Add Custom Buttons (Studio → Add → Button) to trigger server actions.
  • For conditional styling, use Studio → Kanban → Customize Colors.
  • Add tabs and columns in Form view to organize complex forms.

Key Benefits

  • No coding required – Studio’s drag-and-drop editor makes view customization easy.
  • Faster implementation – Modify business logic and UI in minutes.
  • Custom views per use case – Optimize forms and lists for different user roles.
  • Safe experimentation – Undo changes or export your studio customization for backup.
