Collaborating on a Counterparty Initiated Contract

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 27 views

Introduction

Working on a contract initiated by a counterparty follows a process similar to collaborating on an organization-initiated contract. Below are the key actions you can take:

Add and Manage Collaborators

You can invite and manage collaborators the same way you would for an organization-initiated contract

For detailed steps, see Adding and Managing Collaborators.

Review and Edit a Shared Contract

  1. Go to the Contracts tab.
  2. In the top-left corner, click the view name and select Shared With Me from the dropdown.
  3. Open the contract you want to review.
  4. If you have Write permission, edit the contract document directly.

Important Notes:

  • Only collaborators with Write permission can make edits.
  • Edits can only be made to the document content, not the details panel on the left.

Add Contextual Commen.ts

  1. Open the contract from the Shared With Me view.
  2. Switch to Review Mode at the top of the document editor.
  3. Highlight the text, then click Add Comment on the toolbar.
  1. Enter your comment in the right-side panel.
  2. Set comment visibility from the dropdown:
    • My Organization Members (default) → visible to the owner + collaborators with Write or Comment permissions.
    • Everyone → visible to negotiators, the contract owner, and collaborators.
  3. Click Add.

Quick Tip: You can also add comments from the smart toolbar by selecting text and clicking Add Comment (requires Write permission).

Edit or Delete a Comment

  1. Open the contract from the Shared With Me view.
  2. Switch to Review Mode.
  1. In the Comments panel, hover over the comment.
  2. Click More → choose Edit or Delete.

Note: In Compose Mode, clicking on a commented text will show the comment in a dialog box.

Track Changes and Manage Comments

The process for tracking changes and managing comments is the same as in organization-initiated contracts.
For detailed instructions, see Tracking Changes and Managing Comments.
