Task Budget

Task Budget in Zoho Projects lets you set a financial limit on individual tasks, so spend can be tracked and managed at the most granular level of project work.

What Task Budget does

It tracks planned versus actual cost for each task and calculates the variance automatically. When approved billable hours are logged against a task, the actual cost is calculated for you, so you can see which tasks are at risk, in overrun, or showing a surplus in real time.

How to set up Task Budget

  1. When creating or editing a project, open the Budget section and choose Based on Task from the Project Budget dropdown.
  2. Open the Tasks tab for the project and click Add Task (or edit an existing task).
  3. Enter the task details and fill in the Task Budget and Budget Threshold fields.
  4. Save the task.

With this setting, the overall project budget is calculated as the sum of all individual task budgets.
