How to Transfer or replace the Portal Owner in Zoho Social?

The Portal Owner in Zoho Social is the user who created the account and holds the highest level of administrative control, including managing the subscription and key account settings. This article explains how to transfer or replace that role.

Transferring the Portal Owner role

Only a Portal Admin or the current Portal Owner can start a transfer, and the new owner must already be a Portal Admin. Users with the Brand Admin, User or Limited Publisher role cannot be assigned Portal Owner rights until they are made a Portal Admin.

  1. Go to Settings > Portal Settings.
  2. On the Portal Info page, click Edit.
  3. Select a user from the Portal Owner dropdown (they must already be a Portal Admin).
  4. Click Save.

Replacing the Portal Owner on a single-user plan

If your subscription includes only one user licence, such as the Standard or Limited plan, use the replace option instead:

  1. Go to Settings > Portal Settings.
  2. Click Invite Member next to Portal Owner.
  3. Enter the new member’s email address in the popup window and click Invite.

The invitee receives an email invitation, and ownership is replaced as soon as they join the account.
