Phase Budget

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 193 views

Phase Budget in Zoho Projects lets you allocate a specific budget to each phase of a project, so spend can be tracked and compared stage by stage rather than only at project level.

What Phase Budget does

It lets you compare planned versus actual expenses per phase and monitor cost variance, so you can manage phase-level spending, set clear financial limits upfront, and direct funds to the phases that matter most. When a project’s budget type is set to Based on Phase, the overall project budget is calculated as the sum of all phase budgets.

How to set up Phase Budget

  1. Open your project, go to the Phases tab, and click Add Phase in the upper-right corner (or edit an existing phase).
  2. Enter the phase details.
  3. Fill in the Phase Budget and Budget Threshold fields.
  4. Click Add to save the phase.

Enabling phase-based budgeting for a project

When creating or editing a project, open the Budget section, select the Project Budget dropdown, and choose Based on Phase as the budget type.
