What is Catalyst Projects ?

A Catalyst project is the foundation for building apps and solutions in Zoho Catalyst. Whether you are building a simple web app or a full enterprise solution, you start by creating a project from the Catalyst Console. Each project is a unified space with access to all Catalyst services, tools and components, letting you develop for multiple platforms, manage backend services and deploy to production from one place.

Accessing the Catalyst Console

Sign in to the Catalyst Console using your Zoho or Catalyst account. Depending on your data centre (US, EU, IN and others), you are directed to the matching console dashboard.

The index page

Once signed in, you land on the index page, which lists your existing Catalyst projects.

From here you can also view notifications, manage general settings, and get help with services and tools, as well as create a new project or manage existing ones.

Creating a new Catalyst project

  1. Click Create New Project on the index page.
  1. Enter a name for your project in the pop-up window. Project names can include letters, numbers, underscores and hyphens, but not spaces or other special characters.
  1. Click Create.
  2. Once the project is created, click Access Project to open it.

You are then inside your new project’s dashboard, where you can use Catalyst’s services, tools and settings to start building.

Tips

  • One project supports one app per platform, such as Web, Android and iOS, along with multiple functions and AppSail solutions.
  • Catalyst supports building cross-platform apps from the same project using the appropriate SDKs.
  • All solutions within a project share access to common backend services such as the Data Store, File Store and Serverless Functions.
  • If your solutions do not share data or logic, consider creating separate projects instead.
  • You can create up to 50 projects per account; contact support@zohocatalyst.com if you need more.
  • Your first project must be created through the console, but you can initialise further projects using the Catalyst CLI with catalyst init.
