Forms Overview

Building a form in Zoho Creator does not require any coding, whether you are collecting customer feedback, processing orders or managing employee data. The Form Builder gives you a drag and drop interface to design and customise forms for your business.

How to build a form in Zoho Creator

1. Access the Form Builder

1. Open your Zoho Creator application.
2. Click Create New and select Form.
3. Choose to create a form from scratch, import data, or use a template.

2. Design your form

• Drag fields from the Field Palette on the left into the central building space.
• Arrange fields in one, two or three column layouts.
• Use the Field Properties panel on the right to rename fields, set the field type (such as text, number or date), and define validation rules such as mandatory fields or unique entries.
• Add descriptions or tooltips to guide users.

Deleting a field removes it from the form, but data already stored in the module is kept.

3. Configure form settings

Open Form Properties to:

• Set submission limits, such as one entry per user.
• Customise button labels, for example Submit, Reset or Cancel.
• Apply themes for consistent branding.
• Enable or disable data storage options and add security features such as CAPTCHA.

4. Add form workflows

Open the Workflow section and create workflows based on form events:

• Before form submission
• On form submission
• After form submission

These workflows can automate actions such as sending emails, updating records, or triggering other processes in your application.

Tips

• Choose the right field type for the data you are collecting, for example use an Email field for email addresses to get built in validation.
• Apply a theme to keep branding consistent across your forms.
• Use conditional rules to show or hide fields based on what a user enters, to improve the experience.
• Connect forms to other Zoho applications or third party services to automate work across your systems.
