Revenue Budget

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 198 views

Revenue Budget in Zoho Projects tracks the amount you expect to bill a client, alongside the project’s costs, so you can see profitability as well as spend.

What Revenue Budget does

Project cost is the verifiable expenditure made on a project, calculated using cost per hour. Project revenue is the amount expected to be paid by the client, calculated using rate per hour. Comparing revenue against budget lets you calculate the profitability of a project rather than just its cost.

How to set up Revenue Budget

  1. Go to Settings > Project & Budget (Portal Configuration) and toggle on Enable Revenue Budget.
  2. Create or edit a project and select Based on Project as the budget type.
  3. In the Budget section, set both Cost per hour and Rate per hour.
  4. Track planned versus actual revenue from the project details or list view.

How revenue is calculated

  • Planned revenue = planned hours x rate per hour.
  • Actual revenue = actual billable hours x rate per hour.
  • Forecasted revenue accounts for the percentage of work completed and hours already logged.
