Widgets in Zoho People let you embed custom interfaces within dashboards, forms or custom buttons, extending the application to support your own workflows.

Uploading a widget

  1. Go to Settings > View All > Developer Space > Widgets and click Create New Widget.
  2. Enter a name and description, and choose the widget type: Dashboard, Related List or Button.
  3. Choose a hosting method. For Internal Hosting, upload the widget.zip file from your project’s dist folder and enter the Index Page URL (see the Zet-CLI guide for development steps). For External Hosting, enter the public URL where your widget is hosted.
  1. To control access, enable Based on role and select the applicable roles. Once uploaded, the widget can be added to a dashboard, form or button.

Adding a widget to the dashboard

Go to Settings > View All > Developer Space to select and add a dashboard widget to your view.

Adding a widget to a related form

  1. Go to Settings > View All and select the service to extend, then Extend Service > Forms and choose the form.
  2. In the Customisation section, click the ellipsis icon, then Related Forms Configuration > Widgets > Map Widget, and install the widget you need.
  3. To view it, go to Operations > View All > [Service] > Related Form and open a record; the widget appears at the end of the record view.

Adding a widget to a custom button

  1. Create a new widget with the type set to Button.
  2. Go to Settings > View All, select the relevant service, then Extend Service > Custom Button > Add Custom Widgets.
  3. Select the form, the widget to invoke, role-based access, and whether it appears in the record listing or record view, then click Add.

Tips

  • Test widgets in a sandbox environment before deploying to production.
  • Use role-based access control for sensitive widgets.
  • Use the Zet-CLI tool for building internal widgets for better compatibility.
