How to Set Up Skills?

Introduction

Skills refer to the qualifications, technical proficiencies, and certifications that your field agents and crews possess. These skills ensure the right personnel are assigned to the right tasks.

 

When creating a work order, you can specify the skills required to complete it. In the Dispatch Console, assignments can then be filtered and made based on these skills.

Creating Skills

To add a new skill:

  1. Navigate to Setup > Workforce > Skills.
  2. Click Add Skill.
  3. Fill in the following details:
    • Skill Name: Enter a unique and descriptive name.
    • Description: Add details about what the skill entails.

 

4. Click Create.

 

 Managing Skills

You can edit or delete existing skills:

  • Navigate to Setup > Workforce > Skills.
  • Hover over the skill entry.
  • Click the Edit [✎] or Delete [🗑] icon as needed.

Assigning Skills to Users or Crews

 

To assign a skill to a user or crew:

  1. Go to Setup > Workforce > Skills.
  2. Click on the skill you wish to assign.
  3. Click Assign.
  4. Provide the following information, then click Create:

🔹 Skill Information

  • Service Resource: Select the user or crew.
  • Level: Enter the proficiency level (1–100).

🔸 Certification Details

  • Description: Info about relevant certifications.
  • Certificate ID: Unique ID for the certificate.
  • Issuing Authority: Organization that issued the certificate.
  • Issue Date: When the certificate was issued.
  • Expiry Date: When the certificate becomes invalid.
  • Renewal Status: Current renewal state.
  • Certificate Type: The category of the certificate.
  • Certificate Status: Active or Expired (visible only if Manual Status Override is enabled in the Service Resource Skills module via Module Builder).

 

After the Expiry Date, the certificate status will automatically change from Active to Expired, unless manually overridden.

Adding Notes & Attachments

  • Once a skill is assigned, you can select the entry to view and add Notes or Attachments (e.g., certification PDFs, training proof).

Unassigning Skills from Users or Crews

To remove a skill assignment:

  1. Navigate to Setup > Workforce > Skills.
  2. Click the desired skill.
  3. Hover over the user/crew listed under the skill.
  4. Click the Delete [🗑]
  5. Confirm by clicking Unassign.

  • Keep certificate information up to date to reflect true availability.
  • Skills can be used to filter resources in the Dispatch Console when assigning appointments.
