Benefits of Do not track feature

Estimated reading: 3 minutes 15 views

Introduction

In Zoho SalesIQ, the Do Not Track feature helps you maintain privacy and control over who is tracked when visiting your website. This is especially useful for internal users like administrators and operators who do not need to appear in analytics or live tracking dashboards.

By configuring this setting, you can ensure that specific IP addresses are excluded from visitor tracking, which helps keep your reports clean and focused on actual customer behaviour.

Step-by-Step Instructions

How to Add an IP Address to the ‘Do Not Track’ List

To stop an IP address from being tracked in Zoho SalesIQ:

  • Go to Settings
  • Click on Controls, then select Do Not Track
  • Click the Add button located at the top-right corner of the page
  • Enter the IP address you wish to exclude from tracking
  • Select the brand for which this setting should apply
  • Optionally, add a comment explaining why the IP is being added
  • Click Do Not Track to confirm

From the next visit onwards, anyone accessing your site from that IP address will no longer appear in the Live View dashboard and their activity will not be recorded in SalesIQ.

Important Notes

  • Visitors on the Do Not Track list can still access the chat widget and interact with live agents or chatbots.
  • Their visits will simply not be tracked or displayed in your website’s real-time analytics within SalesIQ.

How Auto-Picking Works

SalesIQ offers a helpful feature that automatically detects and adds the IP addresses of users (such as your operators) who log into the SalesIQ dashboard.

This means when an operator visits your website from the same IP address, they will not be tracked in the Live View.

However, these auto-detected IPs are disabled by default. You will need to manually enable tracking exemption for each one.

In the Do Not Track settings, you will see:

  • A label indicating the IP was auto-picked
  • The name of the operator the IP belongs to
  • A toggle switch to enable or disable Do Not Track for that IP

How to Disable ‘Do Not Track’ for an IP Address

If you wish to remove an IP address from the Do Not Track list:

  • Navigate to Settings
  • Click on Controls, then choose Do Not Track
  • Locate the relevant IP address
  • Click the toggle next to the IP to disable the setting

The visitor will then be tracked again in future sessions.

Tips

  • Use this feature to exclude internal traffic from skewing your reports
  • Add your office IP address to the list so employee activity isn’t tracked
  • Regularly review the list to keep it updated as team members or locations change
  • If your IP address changes regularly (e.g. dynamic IPs), consider using auto-pick for convenience
