Introduction

Web design is an evolving process — content gets updated, layouts are tweaked, and design decisions are constantly refined. But what happens when you want to revisit or revert to an earlier version of your page? With Zoho Sites, you don’t need to worry about losing previous work. Every change you make is automatically saved, allowing you to view and restore previous versions at any time. Here’s how you can access and restore previous versions of a webpage in just a few simple steps.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Why Page Versioning Matters

Whether you’re experimenting with a new design, editing key content, or just exploring layout options, the ability to go back to a previous version gives you the freedom to make changes without the fear of permanent mistakes. Zoho Sites automatically tracks and stores every version of your webpage, including:

  • Auto Saves
  • User-Saved Versions
  • Published Versions

Each version includes a timestamp and the username of the person who made the change, making it easy to track and manage your site’s editing history.

How to Access and Restore a Previous Page Version

Follow these steps to access the version history and restore an earlier version of any page on your website:

  1. Open the Pages Section
  • Click the hamburger icon (☰) in the top-left corner of your Zoho Sites dashboard.
  • Select Pages from the menu to see a list of all your website’s pages.
  1. Access the Version History
  • Next to each page listed, you’ll find a version icon (usually resembling a clock or stacked layers).
  • Click the icon corresponding to the page whose version history you want to review.
  1. View and Filter Page Versions
  • On the version history screen, use the dropdown menu at the top to browse through saved versions.
  • You can filter versions based on their type:
    • Published
    • User Saved
    • Auto Saved
    • All Versions

Each entry will show:

  • The date and time the version was saved
  • The username of the person who made the update
  • A brief description or status (e.g., auto saved or published)
  1. Restore a Version
  • Once you identify the version you’d like to revert to, click Restore.
  • A confirmation dialog will appear. If you’re sure, click Restore again to complete the process.
